The Creed of Lambda Chi Alpha

We believe in Lambda Chi Alpha, and its traditions, principles, and ideals. The crescent is our symbol — pure, high, and ever growing; and the cross is our guide — denoting service, sacrifice, and even suffering and humiliation before the world, bravely endured if need be, in following that ideal. May we have faith in Lambda Chi Alpha and passion for its welfare. May we have hope for the future of Lambda Chi Alpha and strength to fight for its teachings. May we have pure hearts, that we may approach the ideal of perfect brotherly love.

The True Brother Program

In July 2007, Lambda Chi Alpha unveiled a new brotherhood development initiative, True Brother. This program is designed to organize and give meaning to Associate and Initiated members’ educational experiences throughout the undergraduate years and as alumni. The program is focused on Seven Core Values utilizing the acronym, LDRSHIP.

LoyaltyBear true faith and allegiance to Lambda Chi Alpha, your chapter, and your brothers.
DutyFulfill all your obligations from associate member and ritual oaths.
RespectTreat people as they should be treated.
Service and StewardshipPut the welfare of Lambda Chi Alpha, your chapter, and your brothers before your own. Know that as a brother you hold something of value in trust for others.
HonorLive all our values and be an honorable man.
IntegrityDo what is right all of the time — walk the walk.
Personal CourageDemonstrate the courage of your convictions.

The True Brother Initiative provides the structure, content, and process for a member’s journey from Associate member to Brother for life. It is the vehicle by which members adopt the personal identity of the True Brother, and it is the holistic means by which Lambda Chi Alpha accomplishes its organizational mission and realizes its strategic vision.

Policy on Hazing

Lambda Chi Alpha first took a stance against hazing in 1928 and continues to be a strong objector to any form of hazing among fraternities and sororities. Hazing is defined as “any action taken or situation created intentionally to produce physical discomfort or mental discomfort by embarrassment, harassment or ridicule.”

Instead, Lambda Chi Alpha has “developed and supported constructive educational and inspirational programs to provide every opportunity to eradicate such practices and to preserve the human dignity of its members,” both Brothers and Associates.

We believe  “that true fraternalism is nurtured in an atmosphere of social and moral responsibility and loyalty to the principles of higher education.”

If you, or someone you know, are involved in fraternity or sorority hazing, please call the National Greek Anti-Hazing Hotline 1-888-NOT-HAZE (1-888-668-4293).
